  • How can we strengthen understanding amongst the Nordic Languages?
    Nordic languages was the focal point of a conference held in Hveragerði on 18 - 20 September, organised by Nordplus, the Nordic Council of Minsters‘ programme in the area of lifelong learning. Representatives from various Nordic language schools and centres as well as those that focus on research and promotion of minority languages in the Nordic countries have come together with the goal of working towards cooperation on future projects across Nordic and Baltic borders.

    The Nordplus Junior Aurora Award 2023 goes to a joint Nordic-Baltic project.
  • Nordplus is bouncing back in 2023
    The overall result of the Nordplus application round February 2023 is a total of 499 applications applying for a total grant of 27.119.697 €. This is over 35% increase in applications from the previous year. This is a better result than expected, and we are happy with the quality of the applications. The result of the administration’s assessment and acceptance by the Nordplus Programme Committee is that 340, or 68% of the applications, are proposed for funding, making for a total amount of 12.755.000 € or 47% of the applied amount.

    Last year we started this campaign, called Let´s talk about Nordplus. For a week in the end of April, we shared information about the Nordplus programme, about the five sub-programmes and we also shared project stories from project managers, teachers, students and other, working with Nordplus projects.   • Increase in Nordplus applications in 2022
    The overall result of the Nordplus application round February 2022 is a total of 371 applications applying for a total grant of 16.272.104 €. This is over 9% increase from the previous year but not unexpected due to the reduction of cases of the Covid-19 pandemic.

    By Kristina Wall at the Swedish Council for Higher Education Over the last three years, Osbeck upper secondary school in Laholm, Sweden, and Vamia in Vasa, Finland, have participated in a Nordplus project. Students studying hotel and tourism programmes have worked on promoting the visitor industry in Halland and in Ostrabothnia.

    To be eligable for funding through the Programme, you need to pair up with one or several schools or organisations in the Nordplus countries.

    Next Thurday, April 15th, we will be launching our first Nordplus Cafe. This will be a new platform where we introduce everything that Nordplus has to offer. On our first "café date" the focus is on the Junior program. Nordplus Junior is aimed at preschools, primary and secondary schools, both theoretical and vocational programmes, as well as vocational schools/apprenticeships.

    In the 2021 application round due to Covid19, we deviate from the conventional guidelines and allow Letters of Intent (LOI) in another format, such as e-mail. As is normally the standard procedure, all participating organizations must certify their cooperation in the project.

A total of 10 million euro is available in the round, which includes an extraordinary amount of 400.000 euro allocated by the Nordic Council of Ministers for exchange of pupils and student in Nordplus Junior programme.

    In the Nordplus application round of March 2016 more projects across the Nordic and Baltic regions than previous years applied for funds. The programme received 654 applications applying for a total grant of 29,7 million Euro, which is 2.9 times more than available from the overall budget of 10,1 million Euro. 395 applications or 60 percent of the applications have been granted funding.
