Iceland new Nordplus Main Coordinator!

Iceland has from year 2019 formally taken on the role of Secretariat of Nordplus, the Nordic Council of Ministers' major education programme, for the next three years. In this new capacity Rannís will be responsible for the operation of the head office for the Nordplus Programme. Rannís has operated the Nordplus National Agency in Iceland since 2013.

 The operation of the Secretariat involves coordinating the work of the National Agencies in the five Nordic countries, which are involved in the preparation of allocations, as well as work done by contacts in the Baltic States, Greenland, the Faroe Islands and the Aland islands.

Because Rannís will now function as the Secretariat of Nordplus, two new appointments have been made: Andrés Pétursson will take over as the main coordinator of Nordplus and Eva Einarsdóttir will be the programme´s head of PR.

Andrés Pétursson completed a BA degree in media studies and history from Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and later an MA degree in European Studies from the London School of Economics. He has worked for Rannís since 2013 and has extensive experience of international collaboration. In recent years he has been responsible for the school part of the Erasmus +, the European Union's education and youth programme, in Iceland.

Eva Einarsdóttir holds an MA degree in management and business (MBA) from Reykjavík University, a degree in international project management from Gothenburg University and a degree in recreation and social studies from that same university. Eva has a wide range of experience in education, youth and sporting activities, Nordic and European co-operation, as well as experience of promotional activities, event organisation and content management.

Each year, Nordplus provides grants for over 9 million euros for a wide range of educational projects. The Nordic and Baltic countries have actively participated in this collaboration from the programme´s inception and around ten thousand people actively participate in the programme every year. This international collaboration is therefore highly important for the Nordic and Baltic educational communities.
