Activities you can apply for Nordplus Nordic Languages

Nordplus Nordic Languages offers funding for projects that support collaboration around Nordic languages and Nordic Minority languages.

 Aim: Improve mutual language understanding in the Nordic and Baltic regions and to preserve the region’s language heritage.

Nordplus Nordic Languages has four guiding objectives:

  • Promote Nordic languages, Nordic Minority languages and culture and mutual Nordic-Baltic linguistic and cultural understanding.
  • Improve inter-Nordic language comprehension, especially among children and young people. 
  • Stimulate interest in and knowledge and understanding of the languages of the Nordic countries essential to society. 
  • Revitalise national minority languages in the Nordic Region for cultural and inclusive purposes. 

Requirement for all activities: Must involve at least two organisations from two different Nordic and Baltic countries, including the autonomous regions of Åland, the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

Purpose:

Help organisations prepare and plan future applications for Nordplus Nordic Languages.

Nordic Language courses

Purpose:

Promote learning and understanding of Nordic languages to preserve and share the region’s linguistic heritage. 

Target groups: 
  • Qualified teachers, teacher students, and university students 
Course guidelines: 
  • Duration: Minimum 2 days, maximum 1 month 
  • Can be organised as symposiums 
  • It is possible to apply for several courses within a two-year period; however, approval depends on the availability of funding  
  • Applicants may reapply for the same activities for a subsequent two-year period.

Purpose:
Support collaboration on Nordic languages, cultures, and neighbouring language understanding through innovative and cross-sectoral activities.

Eligible activities may include:
• Developing and testing new approaches to teaching and learning Nordic and neighbouring languages
• Creating digital learning resources, platforms, or language technology tools
• Promoting awareness and use of Nordic and official minority languages through campaigns or outreach initiatives
• Organising seminars, workshops, or training activities that strengthen language and cultural understanding
• Facilitating cooperation between educational institutions, cultural organisations, and other stakeholders to promote Nordic linguistic and cultural diversity
• Producing research-based or practice-oriented publications and teaching materials

Projects can be: 

  • Collaboration projects – practical development work 
  • Networks – partnerships for knowledge sharing and long-term cooperation
