Activities you can apply for in Nordplus Adult
Nordplus adult supports mobility projects and collaborations projects within adult learning.
Nordplus Adult welcomes applications for the following activities:
Mobility projects
- preparatory visits
- exchange of teachers and other adult education staff
- exchange of adult learners (adult students)
Collaboration projects
- thematic networks
- development projects
- mapping projects
General requirements
- Involve at least two organisations from two different programme countries
- Maximum project duration: 2 years
- Preparatory visits: max 1 year
- Grants cover travel and subsistence (daily expenses)
- Some projects may include project management funding

Plan future Nordplus Adult projects.

Note: This is only for planning joint projects. For general study or teacher visits, see the next section.
Purpose:
Help adult education staff gain new skills and cultural experiences, and improve teaching quality within the Nordic and Baltic regions.
Who can apply:
Teachers, trainers, and staff working directly in adult education.
(Staff from primary, secondary, or higher education must apply to other Nordplus programmes.)
Funding available for:
- Participation in training courses
- Self-organised teaching or study stays
- Project management (if eligibility criteria in the section “Funding” are met)
Key criteria:
- Minimum stay: 3 full working days (excluding travel)
- Usually max 2 people per organisation (more only if well justified)
- Multiple exchanges in one application are allowed, but each stay must be individually organised
- Study trips to several institutions are not prioritized.
- A programme with clear goals and outcomes is required
- Visits and revisits are allowed, but not required
Purpose:
Provide learners with new skills and cultural insights, and support cooperation between institutions within the Nordic and Baltic regions.
Who can apply:
Adult learners, including those in Continuing Vocational Training (CVET).
(Those in initial VET must apply to Nordplus Junior.)
Funding available for:
- Travel and subsistence
- Project management (if eligible)
Key criteria:
- Minimum stay: 3 full working days (excluding travel)
- Activities must happen in an adult education organisation, where adult learners take part in learning activities with local learners involved
- Study trips to multiple organisations are not eligible
- Clear programme with goals and outcomes is required
- Multiple exchanges in one application are allowed, but each stay must be individually organised
- Visits and revisits are allowed, but not required
- All planned activities must be completed within two years, which is the maximum project period for mobility projects.
Additional support:
- Funding available for accompanying teachers
- Funding also available for participants with inclusion needs
- Involve at least three organisations from three different programme countries
- Each organisation can join max two collaboration applications (as coordinator or partner) per deadline. Higher education institutions are allowed to be involved in two collaboration applications per department. The coordinator is responsible for checking that the partnership complies with the limit. If more are submitted, only the first two will be evaluated. This limit does not apply to mobility projects or other Nordplus sub-programmes
Purpose:
Build lasting partnerships focused on a shared issue or topic relevant for adult education and learning.
What’s required:
- Organisations work together on a common theme or challenge shared by all the involved organisations.
- Must include knowledge-sharing and experience exchange, which subsequently forms the basis of new knowledge and possibly proposals for new initiatives.
- Should lead to new knowledge or ideas
- Priority given to new partnerships with diverse organisations
- May lead to future Nordplus project proposals
- Application must outline:
- The topic and shared goals
- Detailed work schedule
- Expected outcomes
Purpose:
Develop new tools or resources to improve adult education, for example
- teaching materials
- courses
- methods
- digital platforms, etc.
The tools and resources can meet both adult learners', teachers' or mentors' needs.
Key criteria:
- Must be based on existing knowledge and needs. Previous projects are not to be duplicated.
- Application must include:
- A detailed work plan
- Clear goals and expected results
- Must result in at least one final product, which is freely available to the public freely available to the public and carries the Nordplus logo.
Purpose:
- Study adult learning systems or practices and identify areas for improvement, such as
- Collect and analyse existing knowledge, data, and practices
- Often includes comparisons between countries or sectors
- Results should inform new projects or recommendations
Key criteria:
- Must be based on existing research (no repetition of past studies)
- Must have broad relevance beyond the participating organisations
- Projects usually include both practitioners and research institutions. High priority is given to projects involving different types of organisations/institutions.
- Application must include:
- A clear plan with aims and outcomes
- Details on how the acquired knowledge will be published, e.g. in the form of a report.
